Hemp take 2!

craftgrrlTook another stab at hemp knotting tonight and I love this one even more!
The last of the stone beads that I used on the lower necklace, plus a mother-of-pearl bit I found ages ago with the holes already right there for me. A little worried that the strings going through the shell will be the weakest point, but not enough not to wear it:)
Does anyone have any favored ending methods? I've been knotting right to the ends, then shoving a safety pin through both sides in the back, so that I can take it off/on, but I feel like there has got to be a better way which does not involve possibly rusting safety pins.
