Mar. 1st, 2003 11:49 pmI think that this may be my first post that’s actually to show something I’ve made and not just ask a question!
My dad’s birthday is this week and I was told not to get him anything because my parents know that I’m totally broke. I felt sort of bad. It’s not fair that just because he’s the dad he misses out on birthday presents. At the same time, I am really broke. I don’t have the kind of dad who you can give a mix cd or a photo or something cute or sentimental to, so I thought really hard all morning and came up with the following gift…

I found the waterproof, heavy black canvas on the one dollar table at the fabric store a few weeks ago and was intending to make myself a bag out of it. The green fabric was scrap fabric that was laying around the apartment. Since I couldn’t get to a craft store today, I went to the party supply store and bought a four pack of "Chinese jump ropes" for 88 cents, and used one of them to make the elastic around the top. Tomorrow I need to run to the hardware store and buy a d-ring and a clip to attach to the loop so that he can clip it to his golf bag.
I considered for a bit painting or embroidering something on it, but I couldn’t decide what, so I left it plain.
I didn’t have a pattern. I sort of made it up as I went along. The actual product looks much nicer than the crappy digital camera picture.
I’m pretty happy with it so I thought I’d share.
