I made a diaper cake for an office baby shower next week (it's a froggie/frog prince theme). Given this is the first time I've ever attempted to make a diaper cake, I'm thrilled at how it turned out.

I Google/image searched diapercake and found a lot of inspiration out there. I also used some guidance from this community that someone posted. There are a lot of different ways of doing it, I've seen some where the diapers weren't rolled, and I wish I would have attempted that prior to rolling 116 diapers! The most helpful things I learned was: to use a posterboard/cardstock ring to give each layer structure; no matter how tight you tie things, it's still better to use large rubberbands to hold each layer, once you've wound all those rolls around your form (just give in and buy ribbon to cover it); and nice, new, tight paperclips hold ribbon ends better than tape.

Cost:
jumbo pack of diapers (116): $17
ribbon/posterboard: $3
layette set (onesie, hat, washclothes, hooded towel): $18
sock set: $3
pacifiers: $5
bottles: $4
2 pairs of pants:$10
Total: $60

Edited to add:
I should also mention that each layer is solid with diaper rolls, one could make this with far fewer diapers and leave the inside of the 'rings' hollow, or filled with other gifts.
