Haven't posted in ever, but thought I'd share some of the pottery I've painted lately!

For Mother's Day this year I painted my mommy a cheese platter with a Tuscan theme. It was a fun and relatively quick project and I was so pleased with how it came out!

Detail Shots:

The clouds!

The table with wine, cheese, etc.! My mom's name is Theresa, so the wine bottle was just BEGGING for some personalization. The two wine glasses didn't turn out exactly the same, but I did them on two separate days so I forgive myself. The looked the same before they went into the kiln, but alas, that is just one of the hazards of painting with glazes :\

The oil bottle. This is probably one of my favorite parts of the platter.

The grapes and vines!

I also painted a mug/plate set that had album artwork from The Decemberists' most recent album, "The Crane Wife".

The whole mug. "I will come on the breath of the wind" is a lyric from a song off of the album.

Just the people! This picture probably shows the colors the best.

Detail of the faces. The guy didn't turn out quite as I'd hoped, but eh. His eye's aren't the same size and shape though. Oh well.

Annnnd this is the original artwork.

The plate that goes with the mug! This is the most detailed piece I've ever painted, and took hours and hours over the course of a few months. It was pretty ambitious, but I am SO HAPPY with how it turned out.

Another picture. The actual color is sort of in the middle of the two...

Detail of the crane. Both the crane and the woman on the mug are bleeding because they are the same entity. The albums was vaguely based on a folktale in which a man shot a crane down and it turned into a woman, who he then married and such.

In progress shot!

The original artwork. You can see a high resolution pic of this same artwork here!

And just for fun, here is the day of the dead skull a friend of mine painted. It's unfired in there pictures, so the colors look a bit dull, but there were bright and shiny and awesome when it was fired.

The front!

The side!

The other side!

I found the skull (fired) in the background of another picture, soooo TADA! It is kinda hard to see, but you can get the idea.

Hope you all enjoyed, and that there weren't TOO many pictures. I was excited to have something to post!
