So, I was thrifting the other day and I found this gorgeous sheer, off-white cotton tunic top with brown and white crocheted detail at the neckline and sleeves. It reeked heavily of thrift store, so my mother handwashed it in cold water and Woolite. The brown dye bled a little while washing, but in the end it rinsed clear. My mother then laid it flat to dry. I went to look at it this morning, and it seems the brown has bled through while drying and spattered the back of the shirt with brown spots. My mother tried a number of ways to wash them out, bleach them out. Nothing worked, and now the back of the off-white shirt is no longer off-white. It's got bleached-white spots and big bleached-white streak down the center of the back.
I am very upset by all this. The top was an amazing find, and only $2 when the brand usually sells for $38-$148 per piece. Is there any way I can salvage it?
I was thinking of dyeing it, as the entire thing is made of cotton, but I don't know what dye to use, or what color, or anything like that... I've never dyed anything before except my hair and Easter eggs...
