craftgrrl | Sushi pillows help / stuffed turtle pattern request (Reply)

A bunch of friends and I [8 of us total] have decided to make the common room in our dorm suite Asian-themed, since most of us are taking Japanese. Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I volunteered to make sushi pillows. [I also plan on making onigiri pillows, but I already have those totally figured out.] I'm not a crafty person in general [I prefer drawing to making things], but I enjoy sewing when I get the chance, and I've been meaning to make these pillows for a long time.

So, does anyone already have a pattern that they'd like to share? Or at least some tips about how to go about making the colourful centre bits? It's been a few years since my high school sewing class, so I'm a bit rusty. I can figure out the general pattern [seriously, it's not like roll pillows or the flat round ones are hard], but I know I'm going to have issues with the 'fillings'.

Also, any fabric suggestions? Otherwise, I'm just going to pick up whatever's cheap at Wal-Mart. ~~I'm so un-crafty. 8D;;~~

Also, on a different note.. Several months ago I found a pattern for a small [2-3 inches] stuffed turtle on one of the LJ craft communities. The pattern was on a Japanese site, and I believe it called for felt. It was terribly cute, but I lost the site before I finished the turtle. Does anyone happen to have the link, or know where I could find it [or something similar]? I need it for a present for someone. ^^;

ETA: Found the turtle pattern! According to my old LJ, where I'd posted a link to it, I found it on this community. But since I can't find it in the tags, I must have searched long and hard for it originally. XD
