Cuff Bracelets
Sep. 27th, 2007 02:00 pmI've made three more cuff bracelets this time around.
The idea of "stars all over" was given to me by
heliumglow, who was my very first reader on my artsy journal. Since he gave me the idea, I decided to comp him a couple of them. It doesn't hurt that his birthday is coming up in October, so woo. Double!
I searched through my bag of fabrics and scrap fabrics and everything else I had and ended up finding several different patterns with stars on them. I'm pretty sure they were destined to be an americana patriotic pillow of some sort to their previous owner, but hey. they're mine now.
teaser:

These three cuffs still came out a little too patriotic or americana for my usual taste, but I really think they're nice and well done. Not so much with the tacky old lady crap you usually see with red white and blue, stars and stripes, etc... (no offense meant to anyone who actually likes that stuff, it's just not my style. you get it.)

The first one I made ended up being too small, even though I measured it out right, it ended up fitting my girly wrist perfectly, so I just naturally assume it's not going to fit his. Also, I "bedazzled" it with beads for extra shine. I guess the girl in me got out a little too much. Nathaniel, my husband, told me it was too feminine and that I shouldn't send it off. So... I'm keeping it. I'm actually wearing it right now.
DETAIL:

The other two, I tried channeling all the masculinity I could muster while making them, but with the supplies I had accessible it was hard. I think I did a good enough job. Nathaniel still said HE'D never wear them, but he doesn't get into the patriotism even a little bit. Whatever.
DETAILS:

That's that. The end. I've got enough supplies to make one more bracelet, but I don't think it would be any more or less than these two and I like the two I've already done. Maybe I'll make the last one and try to sell it to someone. *shrug* Maybe I'll just let it sit there for a while until I feel the inspiration hit me. Last night was not that night, as I was falling asleep at my sewing table trying to finish up.
