I know some of you seamstresses may appreciate my find! :)

It's a Kenmore from 1956-1958 in FANTASTIC condition. I found it as I was stopping by a new hobby shop I found ... the next store over was filled with sewing machines. Since I've recently began sewing hammocks for small pets, I found that my Brother XL-6562 wouldn't really cut it - it wouldn't go through many layers of fleece, even with a larger needle. Some of you may remember me posting about it.

So, I went in and asked if he had anything that was heavy duty and could go through very thick material. He's a Singer dealer and had some fleece on hand, so he showed me the most powerful thing they had in store. We folded the fleece up to the thickness I wanted to go through and... well, that $400 machine broke the needle on the first pass. XD Oops.

After being upset that even he didn't have anything that could do the job, he said "... wait a minute. Let me show you something." and took me to the rear of the store and pulled out a green table. He flipped it open and ... tada! Out popped this 50 year old Kenmore! We tested it and it went through the really thick fleece with absolute ease. I was scared to find out the price tag on it, since it was also recently serviced.

$67. You've got to be kidding me! I exclaimed I wanted it, right then and there, but needed to wait until I had the cash. After telling a friend all about it, she surprised me with the money to go get it as an early Christmas present.

So. The Kenmore is miiiiine. I've been working on it for the past few days now and it's an absolute dream. :]
