Looking for advice/opinions

craftgrrlI have these two fingering weight alpaca yarns in my stash, I thought they might look good together, so I started to knit a swatch in a simple lozenge pattern. However, I am afraid that the colors are too similar and that the pattern will not be apparent enough. So I come to you guys for opinions.
(please excuse my toes!!!at least my fingernails are clean!!!)
What do you think? I was picturing a floral scroll type pattern, probably for armwarmers/gloves. Do you think it will work even with lack of contrast, will the lack of contrast make it more subtle (will that be a good thing?) I was leaning towards No, but my roommate said it might work
