French memo board?
Mar. 18th, 2008 11:10 amHello craftgrrls. I have a question and I figured you guys would be able to help. I have a boring, plain corkboard at home that I would like to make into a French memo board. My boyfriend's mother in England sends us postcards every time she goes on a trip (which is very often) and I would like to display them. I can't get to the craft store due to my schedule (I'm going on a trip this weekend) but I would like to make it ASAP before I lose the inspiration!
So, my question is: if I don't have quilt batting what else could I use to pad a french memo board? I was thinking of using an old towel or possibly stopping by the thrift store (it's on my way home from work)and getting an old blanket to use as the padding. Do you think this would work? Has anyone used something other than quilt batting as the padding between the board and the fabric?
To make this not text only here is a project I did recently:

Shirt that was way too big

I cut the bottom part off to use as the apron skirt

I added a rectangle of leopard fabric for the top of the apron, used the cuffs sewn together as the neck strap and made waist ties out of the rest of the leopard. I am still considering adding at least one pocket for my cell phone so I don't keep losing track of it while I cook. :)
Hope you liked it!
