Hairspray + PVC = bad

craftgrrlAwhile back, I made a potato cannon out of PVC pipe. The last time I used it, I forgot to rinse out the cap. The hairspray (which I was using as lighter fluid) in the cap dried, and now I can't unscrew the cap.
How do I dissolve the hairspray and unstick the cap? Is it even possible?
(And in case you're wondering what this has to do with crafting, perhaps you recall this. I'm doing a different project this year, which I'll be testing tomorrow.)
