I am having my foot surgery tomorrow, so that doesn't leave me much time to get my stuff ready for the pressed flowers workshop coming up on April 19th. I will be in a foot cast for 6 weeks. So, I decided to make two more items for display, to show more examples of ways to use pressed flowers. I bought a finished box frame from Dollarama (pretty good for a buck), and removed the backing so I could open it up. I then removed the cheap, dried arrangement that was in it, and replaced that with black felt, then I proceeded to do my own arrangement. This is a real 3-D arrangement, as the pressed orchid bloom is raised on the ferns. And the ferns are only glued in a couple of places so the leaves are curling outwards as well.
The second thing I did was do two wine glasses with pressed flowers. I sealed the flowers with liquid glass glaze. This stuff is exceptional in the fact that once dried this glaze will withstand temperatures of 350 degrees F. So if you were to do any painting on ceramic dishware you could conceiveably put this cookware in the oven. And it can be washed with soapy water, just don't put it in the dishwasher, as temperatures there are greater than 350 degrees.
So, if you are curious to see what I created,
