A few things I made for my daughter...
Apr. 8th, 2008 12:31 pmToday's post revolves around my kid.
She just turned three on April 5th, so I've been busy.
First, if any of you are parents, you may be familiar with "Otto". He's a dog character created by Todd Parr. My daughter absolutely adores Otto, so I decided to sew her a felt version of him.
However, since he's a very simple sketchy type of art, I didn't have much to go on.
This is Otto:

He also dreams about being "Super Otto" in one of the books, so I made him a cape:

Another project I worked on was an Easter Dress. It was my first attempt at a dress, so I didn't do a great job, but from far away, it looks pretty awesome. It was my Father In Law's plan to make it for her for Easter, but he only got the pattern cut out, so I took home everything and worked on it in a day and a half.

Zipper detail - never done a zipper before. Didn't even know my machine HAD a zipper foot until I searched.

Action shot. It ended up being too big for her, so she had to have that shirt underneath. Sorry for the weepy eyes. She was mad at me for not letting her take that toy train into the church service. I caved in and let her.
Finally, her birthday party.
She's madly in love with princesses lately, so she had a Royal Feast.
You can't have a Princess Party without a Throne, so I formed some triple strength corrugated cardboard over one of her pre-existing chairs, packing taped the hell out of it, and painted it to look like a throne. I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out and haven't been able to bring myself to dismantle it just yet.

and the last bit of creativity:

a double layer chocolate castle cake.
We bought only white icing and I colored it the different shades and iced it myself.
I'm very proud since baking is NOT my thing at ALL.
Seriously, I could burn ice.
