Apr. 14th, 2008 09:14 pmSo I was in Joann's and they had the magenta Caron Shadows yarn, only they only had one skein. I picked it up because I figured I'd find something to do with it, then I was in AC MOORE (different day) and they only had one skein left of the same stuff and I was like --kismet!
Anyhoodle, it sat in my yarn stash for weeks because I didn't know what to do with it. Then i was flipping through a pattern book and I saw this pattern and I had to try it. Unfortunately, I ran out of the Shadows yarn, so I had to improvise a little bit. The original pattern was all one color and it was a satin yarn, but I like how this turned out. I hope the person I made it for loves it.

The ruffle is not as obscenely large as it looks in this picture. because I ran out of the Shadows yarn when I was doing the handle I had to edge it in the purple, then I did the ruffle in the purple, then I edged everything in the purple to make it look like I meant to do that. That's happened to you, right?

I love this yarn, I wish you could see the subtle color variations better than these pictures. Also, ignore my fraggle.

This is to give you a sense of size. Again, I really couldn't get a great closeup shot of the stitching, but it's all done in the back loops so there's a nice ripple stitch to it that I really like.

Aaaand the back. The line down the center of the gusset is obviously the two ends of the strap. I almost wish I'd thought to use a little of the scrap Shadows yarn to make sure that didn't happen. But I almost like the imperfection. Well, I'll know next time.
Thanks for looking!
