Support craft! Or Crafty support?
May. 8th, 2008 09:33 amSince I currently have a buggered up ankle, this is what I'm currently sportin round town:
I call it my gothic pimp cane....or Burton Voodoo cane when I'm feeling particularly kitchy.

This is an old project, but since I never posted it when I first made/ finished it, and it's getting a second lease on life (originally being used for a costume piece a couple years ago)here ya go:
Started out it's life as a very very splintery wooden thrift store cane.
Sanded, primed, painted with white, then sprayed with black taping the white off with masking tape (all hail our overlords Krylon and Masking tape!)
Then doing the detail work with some hobby acrylic 'enamel' paints I had.
Whittled the bottom down to accommodate the rubbery nub purchased at the hardware store. Which worked for a costume piece, but I may switch it out for a proper soft rubber cane end from a medical equip store as this one slips on hard surfaces.
The end got a hinged dangle made of sculpy 'beads' (the skullie eyes go all the way through to the other side!), held on by an eye screw.
~As you can see in the first picture, it moves around.....alot~

~Excuse the lint~
This had a woven red ribbon handle grip with ribbon dangles (again, for the costume) but we've replaced it with 'whipping' using a dyed black 1/8" calfskin lace (I didn't do that, my man did last night)
Et Voila!
Support in style!

Bye now!
