For my momma
May. 8th, 2008 12:18 pmI made a simple/cutesy mother's day gift for my mom. She moved up here to Seattle last year after living the past 20+ years in Hawaii. She's still having trouble adjusting to the change in temp! So I made her a little shadow box beach scene for when she needs to get away to a warm place :)

I used a premade shadow box I bought from Ikea a while ago, some precut foam stickers, sand from the flower dept, and acrylic paint. I also made the chair out of toothpicks and fabric. It turned out all wonky but not bad for my first attempt. I totally forgot to make an umbrella and add shells. But by the time I remembered it was past midnight and I'd already sealed up the back so the sand couldn't escape. Oh well!
Pics without flash show the real color. I painted palm trees on the inside, water and a big sun :)
Lots o' pics ahead!
