I've been using Jacquard textile paints for stencilling, because they're super-cheap, relatively soft, and they used to be available at Joann's. But... it looks like they're not anymore? So, since I'm going to have to order something online either way, I was wondering what you guys use for your stencils. My preferences:

1) Cheap! I am but a poor college student. (The Jacquard paints are around $4 for 2.25 oz at the most, but they're usually cheaper than that.)
2) Soft and opaque! I've never been satisfied with my acrylic + textile medium results in this arena, so that's right out.
3) Comes in small quantities! What am I going to do with 32 ounces of fluorescent yellow paint?
4) No fumes that will give me or my cat cancer! It's just one of those things, you know.

I'm especially curious as to what works well on dark fabrics--I've never found anything that doesn't get lame and cracky after a few washes.

When I saw IAMX live, they didn't have any shirts in my size. Way to FAIL, IAMX! So eventually I got my crap together and made one:

The stars were inspired by the Kiss + Swallow music video, which looks like a t-shirt you'd buy at Target anyway. Not that I need a reason to put stars on shit.


A little sharper. If I could go back in time I would move the logo a bit closer to Chris, because I don't like how it curves around my waist--one more reason for people to glance at it and go "IMAX!?"


And a close-up of the hard bit. I don't know, it makes me laugh, because the logo is looking surprisingly... Barbie, and next to his face, it's all "CHRIS CORNER! NEW FROM MATTEL!" I have this theory that hot pink is hardcore, though. Tons of people absolutely hate it on some visceral level, so wearing it in any large quantity is kind of abrasive, and not something you should do if you're uncomfortable with people staring at you. (I don't wear it because I want to burn people's retinas or cry for attention, though--I wear it because I have no taste. Yay!)
