Yarn question - opinions, please!
May. 30th, 2008 01:32 pmThis is an experiment I decided to try, I guess this is double knitting? I'm not sure. I got the idea from this page, though I don't really want to do stars. If you were a Dallas Cowboys fan, I could see it in Blue and Silver, though. Anyway, I thought I'd do something simple, like stripes. But here's the problem - I kinda like it. Why is that a problem? Because that's the only skein of that peach yarn I have. And it's from YEARS ago, so no getting more.

So these are the things I've thought of doing.
A) Give it up now, cut your losses and move on
B) Make it square and have a GIANT potholder
C) Buy another complimentary color yarn and randomly switch it with the peach
D) Buy several complimentary yarns and switch them with the peach
E) Buy several complimentary yarns and switch them with the peach and the white
F) Other, please explain
Not that I'll be doing much knitting anytime soon, I was working on my giant needles last night and had to stop every row to massage my wrist. :/
Speaking of the giant needles...
Here's a picture of the two scarves I'm making out of those cheap skeins of yarn I got from Hobby Lobby ($1 each). Yes, I know, how 80s! They are SOFT though. So soft and snuggly. And they'll make inexpensive presents to unsuspecting people. ;)

The one on the left is a K1, P1 made on giant plastic needles (I don't remember the size off the top of my head). The one on the right is K2, P2 made on size 11 aluminum needles. The one on the left is going much, much, much faster.
Next up, I think, is a crocheted scarf (or two) from this pattern. Though I won't use any boucle yarn - it's too hard to crochet, you can't see where the stitches are! - so I need more knitting patterns for that. I also need to make something other than scarves. :/ I do have yarn and a pattern to make a felted purse, maybe I should try that next. After I get these projects done... so it might be awhile.
