crochet quilt question

craftgrrlhi guys, i've been lurking for forever and love this community, but don't have a camera anymore to make this post not simply text. sorry, i will get on that asap. anyway.
i would really like to make one of those crocheted blankets that are made out of grandma squares of many sizes/colors. i was looking in the memories and back to january i think of the posts, and i cant find any examples or what these things are called, but i remember seeing some posted. does anyone know what they are and where i can find a pattern?
