Crocheted baby blanket
Aug. 12th, 2008 05:59 pmI made this for the daughter of a friend at work, who welcomed her first child a couple of weeks ago.

It's roughly 34" wide by 45"long.

Close-up of the stitches.
I used Red Heart Baby Econo yarn, which I hopehopehope softens up in the wash (it's in the dryer now). I've never had a problem with an acrylic not getting soft after washing, but I've never worked with this yarn before, and it's really rough. Perfect, colorwise and everything, and interesting with the little thread wrapped around the yarn, but very scratchy.
Now I have two more baby blankets to make for two more friends at work that are both pregnant with their first child and are both due at the end of October. Oy.
ETA: Out of the dryer and oh-so-soft. Huzzah!
