Magnetic Change Purse
Apr. 12th, 2003 04:43 pmI am a nut case and decided that I wanted to make a magnetic change purse to go with the last purse I made (not the one from this morning). So if you are interested in the final product and/or the directions....
Step 1: Cut out a 9.5" by 6" piece of fabric (the 6" ends with be the top and bottom).
Step 2: Turn under 1/4" at top and bottom, stitch down the middle of folded section (see picture - sorry its kinda blurry).

Step 3: Turn under 7/8" at top and bottom (again - this will make the "pocket" for the magnet), stitch using stitching from step 2 as your guide (see pictures).

Step 4: Turn under 1/4", and then 1/4" again on right side. Stitch along the edge, making sure to knot it at both ends (see picture).

Step 5: Slide magnet strip into top and bottom pockets. I used 1/2" x 4" strips, they came in a pack of six.
Step 6: Repeat step 4 on left side.
Step 7: Fold in half, wrong sides together. Stitch close to edges along both side and the bottom.
TA DA! You are done!
