 So, the heavens split and light doth shone down my local Hobby Lobby started carrying Bamboo yarn! I discovered this today, and bought a nice, creamy skein of 3 ounces. I've never knit with it before, and I love the soft texture. Has anyone else knit with bamboo yarn before? What's a good project for it? I'm thinking about doing another headband that can also be branched out into a long, skinny scarf, in lace, maybe?

Also, a couple of friends of mine are tying the knot in about a year or so. Yay! The very ambitious bride-to-be is knitting her own chuppah for their relaxed beach wedding (she's about halfway done!), but I want to knit them a his-and-hers thing as a present, as Bride and I have been friends since middle school. The tricks:

1) Bride and groom live in California, so no sweaters or scarves or hats;
2) Bride is allergic to most animal fibres (the chuppah is being knit out of cotton);
3) Bride hates fluffy, fancy things and groom is very relaxed (no shawls or doilies).

I'm thinking of either an Afghan or maybe his-and-her recyclable tote bags for grocery shopping (their city outlawed plastic bags, and they're both very into recycling anyway). Though I briefly thought of making a bride-and-groom costume pair for their two cats, because I'm evil like that : D. Any ideas? What have you knit for a soon-to-be-wedded couple? Or, er, is knitting presents a bad idea and I should just buy a Crock Pot like I did for my other friends : /?
