"Throw blanket" quilt sizes

craftgrrlI'm new to the (self-taught) quilt world and after making a few baby-size blankets, I'm seriously considering making a few simple couch throw size quilt blankets for a couple family members for the holidays. Problem is I'm having trouble figuring out what size I should aim for. And ideas?
I have 2 fleece throws I can measure, but I'm thinking that because they are fleece and more "flexible/drapey" that the size may not be realistic for a quilt (more stiff). I'm thinking the quilt throws may need to be a little bigger. So I'm turning to you lovely ladies for suggestions!!
What do you think? As and adult size person, what size would you like?
