Needing some advice/help...
Nov. 14th, 2008 11:30 amI know that all your creative minds can help me out!! :)
Issue #1: Where to find mason jars/ball jars/canning jars this time of year? I could have sworn they would have them at Wal-Mart, but no dice.
Issue #2: I found this great idea to make a "memory jar" (jar full of (hopefully) 365 memories of a person, allowing them to read one each day) for my grandparents, who are 92 and 93. The issue here is what to have them do with the memories they've pulled out (likely strips of paper or cardstock). The only realistic thing I'd thought of so far was something like a clothesline, but I don't think either of them would be able to manipulate mini-clothespins effectively, and large ones would probably look silly. Ideas?? I hate to have them just stuff the "used" ones in a box or another jar; I'd rather they were able to display them somehow. And keep in mind that there will be quite a few by the time we're done, so a small bulletin board, etc, would not work! :)
And so that I'm not ONLY asking for help,
This is a part of the frantic holiday knitting I'm doing while I'm off work recovering from surgery. It's the Shape It scarf from The Knit Stitch, in a novelty yarn my mom fell in love with at a yarn shop in Richmond, VA. Not something I would probably wear, but she will love it! It's very hard to photograph, so I apologize for the so-so pictures. :)
