<<<<UPDATE>>>>
I wonder how hard it would be to make a type of 3D  christmas tree from fabric?  I just looked through my craft materials to see what I have most of, and while i dont have much cardboard  I do have alot plain cotton fabric. I was thinking of putting  a glue solution over the fabric and then making a sort of bell shape of it, and then stacking multiple ones on top of each other, so that the end result  ends up looking something like this: http://www.weblogsinc.com/common/images/9412176874342621.JPG?0.08715768018761894
(
the one on the right, but then bigger)
im gonna test this out in paper first, if i succeed in doing this ill let you guys know!

This year it looks like my family won't have enough money to spend on a christmas tree (they are pretty expensive here, starting at about 25 euros for the cheap (and usually ugly) ones)  i don't really know anyone who would lend us their fake tree either.

Now usually the christmas  tree is kind of the centerpiece of our celebration, its what we put the gifts under, its what makes the whole house feel like christmas to me.

now the problem is not that i can't think of anything to replace the christmas tree with, because i have plenty of ideas (buying some nice branches, putting them in a vase, decorating them with some lights for example, or making a giant paper origami tree)
but the problem is that i dont think my ideas would be really any cheaper then the christmas tree itself xD (for the branch idea id have to buy branches, buy lights (we have huge old fashioned xmas lights i dont think they would look good at all on just some twigs xD) or have to buy alot of paper etc)

so I kind of want something of a fairly big size (roughly a meter high or so) and that would not require me to spend (much) money on it..
any ideas?
