Some Christmas presents I made
Dec. 12th, 2008 11:37 pmI made some little christmasy soaps, I used this tutorial tarkheenacrafts.blogspot.com/2008/11/chr
I made some three layer soaps, the purple ones are lavender, the white one is half vanilla, and the other half I put a packet of Chai tea in. Yummm.
My mom has been making these wine bottle crafts like crazy, you just take an empty wine bottle and hot glue those flat glass beads to it (its supposed to look like a bunch of grapes) then add embellishments like ribbon and such, then you put like a twenty string of christmas lights in them and plug it in. They make great gifts, and you can make so many different variations. They look wayyyy cooler in real life and wish I could get better pictures but I'm not really a pro with the digital camera.
My newest most FAVORITE craft is wine glass painting, it's sooo easy. You just get plain glasses, and buy acrylic paint, which you can get at any any craft store for about $1.30 a bottle. I buy the Folk Art brand. You just clean the glass with rubbing alcohol then paint whatever you want on the glasses. I am not artistically inclined, so I just mostly use the end of a paintbrush and make dots into grapes, berries, polka dots, etc. If you mess up, you just take it off with rubbing alcohol. Then when you are done painting, you put them in a the cold oven (don't preheat it), then turn it to 350 for 30 minutes, after 30 minutes turn the oven off but don't take the glasses out, it's best to let them cool down in the oven very slow because theres less chance of them breaking. Then they are all set, and we usually add a little tag that says they have to be handwashed. I'm giving these to a lot of people for christmas with a bottle of wine. Again, the pictures don't do justice, and anyone with artistic talent will probably be able to make wayyy better ones.
