Hi all! I just found this community right before Christmas and I joined right away, but this is my first post. First, I LOVE this community! The inspiration I am getting from looking at your posts has been AMAZING! Thanks!
My name is Sheryl, SAHM of 2 little ones. I have always crafted, since I learned latch hooking around the age of 6. I do a little bit of a bunch of different stuff, but my current crafts of choice are knitting (this is what I do the most of), spinning, and sewing. I also enjoy needle felting, but don't have much time for that with all the other things I am doing. Most of my crafting is done at night after the family is in bed, since crafting with a 4 and 2 year old can be rather challenging and I don't get much uninterrupted time.
I just finished a whole host of Christmas crafting, mainly knitting, so I am enjoying some time to do what I want with no deadlines, plus I am also doing some crafting for myself right now and enjoying it a ton! I have a sewing machine and have been putting it to good use in the last few weeks, and I was lucky enough to be gifted at Christmas with enough to buy a new, better machine, so I am excited about that.
Now, that leads to a question I have. I have been doing some hand sewing lately, and enjoying it a ton. I made a bottlecap pin cushion last night, in fact. But I would love to find some resources to give me more guidance on hand sewing. Does anyone have any favorite books or websites with directions or demonstrations on different hand sewing techniques, from embroidery stitches to quilting? I looked through the memories and don't see anything under there, although I am checking out some of the links. Most reference machine sewingm though. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, and I hope to spend many more hours being inspired here! I don't post often, but I do read!
