Couple Bits of Sewing and a question...
Feb. 6th, 2009 05:57 pmTip for all the newbie sewers on the board. I recently lost the foot to my sewing machine (my needle kept striking it and I took it off to see if I could figure out the problem and misplaced it), and since I'm so cheap I just dug through the bag of accessories trying to find one I could still manage to sew with. I found an open ended one, (it has some little plastic thing on the back but that's not the important part) and have been sewing with that. It is SO much easier to see where I am supposed to be sewing!
Thanks to the person who posted the sewn bags at Christmas with kid's stuff in them. My son got invited to an impromptu birthday party and I used the idea to finish a gift in an hour.

Now for my question....I made a blanket for my son out of fleece and a cotton fabric....I asked the fabric store lady if I should fuse them together, but she told me not to. I am not happy with the looseness of the fabric, they pull apart too much. She advised me to "tack" it but I have no idea what that means. Any advice? I'd rather not quilt into it because I'm just not that good of a sewer...

And here is a pocket rat hammock I made. I just liked the fabric.
