Feb. 19th, 2009 08:17 pmI have no babies (yet). I just love making baby things. I especially like to make blankets because you don't necessarily need a pattern, and they keep you warn while you're working! But then, after I make them, I can't bear to sell them, though I have been known to give them as baby gifts to friends and family. So I have baby binkers running around my house just in case I should ever need them, and I thought you'd like to see them. Someone should get some enjoyment out of them besides me, right?
These first two I made almost four years ago when I first got married. Both are in my favorite checkerboard pattern. I love it for free-forming because you start at a corner and work on a bias. When you get halfway through with however much main color yarn you have, you start decreasing! It's idiot-proof!

This was made with an F hook and Red Heart Soft Baby Yarn in white and mint twinkle. It isn't as soft as I'd like, but then it's been sitting around for a long time, which tends to make acrylic stiffen up. I absolutely love the colors. SHINY!

This one was made with an I hook and Yarn Bee Lambie Pie in Angel and Boo Pink. The pink is brighter than it looks in the pictures. It is amazingly soft, but incredibly hard to work with. It doesn't slip at all and the fuzziness of it makes it really hard to see your stitches. On the plus side, you can't see the mistakes, either! Still, it is soft and pretty, which is what matters with baby things!

This last one I made this week with an H hook and Bernat Softee Baby in white and Candy Baby. True to the name, it is super soft, but a bit fuzzy once handled a bit. I plan to weave pink satin ribbon through the holes I made in the ruffled edge and tie into bows in the corners. These will be stitched down like mad, of course.
