craftgrrl | Easy Sewing (or other?) ideas needed (Reply)

Any ideas/pattern links/etc? I don't really know all that much about sewing. I haven't taken any classes and have never had anyone show me. That being said, I can wing it through a few things when I need/want to. They aren't always pretty. I've mostly made things for my pet rats, so they didn't need to be pretty :p

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for easy things I could sew out of these two fabrics. I saw them in the scrap fabric pile at Joann and loved them (as is normally the case, the picture doesn't do them justice).

There are .52 yards of the silky fabric and .806 of the linen fabric (w/the embroidered/beige flowers). I was thinking that I could make a jewelry case/drawstring pouch out of the silky fabric and maybe a hobo sack/tote/drawstring backpack/beach bag out of the linen?? I am going to Jamaica in April, so I keep going back to ideas for something I can use there. I also thought I could make a swim cover-up out of the linen (a skirt/wrap). I can wrap it around me and tie it as it is, but after cutting/sewing, I'm not sure if there'd be enough fabric.

I have no idea, but the fabrics were both just so beautiful to me (and cheap, since they were 'scrap') so I bought them.
