Hi all- I'm in need of some help and wasn't too sure where else to ask. There is some craftiness involved, so I'm hoping this will kinda fit here.

I want to make a couch out of a bed. For reasons I won't go into, I don't want to spend money or deal with getting more furniture here, so I want to make do with what we have.

We have a mattress and a simple frame. We also have a crappy futon mattress (no futon). I want to cover the bed with a fitted sheet. I'll manage to chop (or cut) the crappy futon mattress in half, and that will be used as the back to the bed-turned-couch.

I'll just cover the futon mattress half with the top sheet that will match the bottom fitted sheet. The "couch" will be pressed against the wall for support, I'll throw some extra pillows on it to make it prettier, and then when his daughter comes over (the main part is actually her bed, and right now it's propped in a very ugly fashion behind the current "couch"), we'll take off the futon-half-mattress and she'll have somewhere to sleep. And I'll finally be able to get rid of this ugly, useless couch that no one- not even his kid- sits on due to the total lack of comfort- seriously, we sit on the floor before we sit on that thing.

(Did all that make sense?)
I'm very close to doing this, and have turned it over in my head and can't think of why it wouldn't work. It's a twin mattress, so it shouldn't be too wide. Can you all think of any reason (aside from the gaudiness, haha) why I shouldn't? Or any tips for making it work even better?
