Dyeing a Slipcover

Hello everyone!

So I'm moving into my first apartment in a few weeks (Yay!) and my boss was nice enough to give me his old sofa. It's really nice and has a great fitted slipcover...the only thing is...

The slipcover is yellow and red striped. I'm not a red fan. I'd like to dye it yellow, but I know the red will be a problem when dyeing it such a light color. So my question is...

Is there any way to bleach the red down light enough that I can dye the whole thing a solid yellow?
