Crochet Cephalopod patterns?

Hi. I am a somewhat novice crafter, but I have an assignment for an animal behavior course requiring that I do something "creative, with bonus for being amusing" that must in some roundabout way relate to animal behavior. I have a great neutral variegated yarn that while it looks tan in the skein, it really stitches out to this really beautiful full-spectrum rainbow effect, which reminds me, somewhat, of an octopus. I then became excited at the prospect of crocheting a squid, which I've seen done before on this very site, but I had difficulty locating any pattern that had simple enough language for my biology-fried, long-dormant craft brain. Any help in locating a simple pattern (either squid or octopus) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
