My spider is complete! After 4 attempts, she is finally done to my satisfaction. Thanks to everyone for their advice. :) Be kind, this is my first figurine, although advice and criticism are welcome!
She was made with red, black and white sculpey and floral wire. The background on her is that in our d&d game she is the spider familiar of our drow priestess of lolth. She can only be understood by the priestess, but she tries to communicate to the party in frustrated squeaks and by holding things up. Probably a higher intelligence level than is realistic, but the dm lets us have fun sometimes. :)
she is depicted as wielding knitting needles and wearing a pink bow. in game, the color of the bow changes on the whim of our wizard, who can use a cantrip (a spell with low power than can be used at any time as many times a day as you want) to change the color of anything. thus her bow is removeable to accomodate the constant color changing war. :D
anyhoo, onto the spider!

i'm not too crazy about the positioning of her front 'hands'... probably shouldn't have blocked her face like that. the needles come out, and her next accessory will be pom poms :D

it was super hard making all the feet even so she balanced! it definitely took the 4 tries to get her properly balanced with all 8 legs.

side view of the markings. i'm not crazy about the dent in her side but ah well.
one piece of advice i did not use that i definitely shall next time is to bake the body with wires sticking out for the legs. her body began a round ball, but kept getting smooshed out by the addition of all the legs being stuck in. ><
