I guess I'm on a bit of a kick? I don't know. I did another shoe right after finishing my dad's. I already had the subject in mind this time.

No video this time! Purely pictures- all the way through the drawing process too. 'Super Future Friends' is a podcast I listen to that recaps and makes fun of old comic books. All the subjects on the shoe are essentially jokes that have come up on the show. I've been listening to their episodes non stop the last day or so. You can check them out here.

Instead of putting an image on the toe, I chose to use it for their gigantic name logo. You can
also see a bit of the girl (Saturn Girl) near the lace holes.

Saturn Girl is widely known for being a gigantic bitch in the early issues
of Legion of Superheroes. And here's her boyfriend, Lightning
Lad! The 'accidental naked time' will make more sense once it's painted.

... I don't know what he is. He was in a random panel in one of the

issues and looked so ridiculous. 'He just saw you naked'

Okay so first I do everything in light blue pencil, then in red pencil to
darken the lines.

Here's Cosmic Boy and the amaaazing brain globe. Actually the brain
globe was one of the more fun things to draw on the shoe.

Ballpoint pen makes quick work of my scratchy pencils

I am nervous about how Saturn Girl's face has turned out. THERE IS
TOO MUCH BITCH ON THIS SHOE.

You know what's really hard? Getting an even layer of pink paint on
fabric. It's worse when you're using acrylic- because once acrylic is dry,
it's DRY. And If I need to make a new batch of pink paint because the earlier
dollop dried up, it BETTER be the exact same shade as the one before.
Because if it isn't, YOU CAN TELL. And what makes aalll thiss harder, is
having to even it out AROUND the letters to make sure you don't cover them up.

Oh yeah, this is the part where I started hating everything.

Getting some of the paint down. STILL trying to even out the pink.

A day later, here it the finished result. I swear the yellow stars look
much better in real life.

I'm actually quite pleased with how the logo came out.

Heere's the accidental naked time! Old comics are well known for
their coloring mistakes. One that came up in the episodes was Lighting
Lad's coloring mistake. Accidental naked time <3

I can't look at his face and not smile.

This time, the entire shoe was painted with acrylic. No copics. I'm trying
to conserve on those until I can buy more.
