But I did want to share some pics of my new sewing machine! It's a treadle sewing machine! A friend of my dad's at work was looking to get rid of it because he didn't have room for it. Apparently, this guy had saved a whole bunch of them from going to the junkyard years back, and had over the years weeded them down to this last one, but needed room in his house for something else so when my dad mentioned I'd just taken up sewing he asked if I'd like it!
Now I didn't have enough room at my house (hubby and I are hoping to move into a bigger house sometime in the nearish future), but my mom offered to make a little space for it!
Well, considering how this guy came by them we weren't sure what kind of shape it would be in, so imagine my surprise when I walked into the room and saw this:

Well, it needs a belt, HOWEVER, Singer's website says they have replacements for order and it needs a little love and TLC in specific areas, but overall I was amazed at what great shape it was in!

My dad found the serial # and doubled checked on the internet to see what year it was made, turns out it's from 1906! Here's the patents listed on the plate above the bobbin:

The fact that so much of the original paint is still on it is awesome!

And the other accent pieces on it are beautiful too! Needs a little love to get some of the sticky grime off, but it should clean up beautifully!

And a shot of the treadle itself, just because:

And the bonus? The table it's housed in still has all the drawers and only one of those drawers is missing a knob. The wood itself is fine save for one spot on the top of the table where it looks like someone set something hot on top of it while it was closed up. Not sure what we're going to do about that yet because it is bubbled out and discoloured there, but that's fairly minor to worry about. :D
Oh, and its timing is still perfect! :D
Hope all you sewing machine nuts out there enjoyed seeing this beauty!
