making your own make up

My class is writing and staging an opera version of "When Sophie Gets Angry, Really, Really Angry." We need to have makeup for the various parts, especially-our trees, (who steal the show in two toe-tapping numbers), a few animals, and the humans.

We need lots of make up because the kids are going to be putting it on each other.

I was hoping to get the post halloween face make up sales, but I'm worried about what will be left. Plus, the containers seem so small. (I need enough for 24 kids, with 3 performances.)

So, anybody have any idea how to make some make up?
