easy apron from jeans

I'm making aprons for the ladies this holiday, but my brother is darn good cook too.

It's a leg from a pair of jeans, upside down and finished at the sides and hem. Figured the denim would wear/wash well. I used D rings to make the top adjustable. The applique is there because he likes monkeys :)
It went together pretty easily, the hardest part was picking the stitches from the back pocket to resew onto the apron. So 45 minutes total.
I was thinking that other types of pants would work well too. I see scrubs all the time at thrift stores, that type of fabric would be stain resistant and easy to wash.
