Print size, other questions....
Jan. 28th, 2010 12:39 pmHi everyone!
I'm thinking about adding some of my photography to etsy, but with there being soooo many other talented photographers on them offering their amazing prints, I have a couple questions...
1. What is a good price ratio to go by per print size?
I've never sold print before and have access to a very low priced overhead so I can afford to be a little cheaper then others. Also, not to take away from my work, but - I'm no where near as experienced with photography as some others and definitely need more practice so I was thinking I should price accordingly.
2. What is your favorite size print to normally buy?
I'm willing to have different sizes for certain images, but I tend to see 8x10's and 4x6's a lot and wonder if I go larger if it will pay off.
3. Color or black and white? I know some images will look better in BW or in color but does one tend to sell better then the other?
I have a lot of nature photos including wildlife, insects (see icon), floral, and some architecture shots. I really want to sell prints but definitely need some feedback. Also, should I offer matting? I have a nice big mat cutter that I can benefit from, but not sure if people prefer just the print or would want the mat to go with it.
Thanks for the help!!! I will be sharing some other crafts I have been doing soon. Once I get the pics loaded to my comp :)
