New Steampunk Necklaces!
Jan. 31st, 2010 01:22 pmThat last necklace I did was such a hit I decided to make a few more similar in theme. I'm really pleased with the way these turned out...

I'm really in love with filigree right now, especially if it's patinaed.

I'm especially fond of this one because it's my first successful self patina piece. I also love that little blue stone that was once a pocket watch winder. The face is almost 100 years old.

here's a shot of the whole thing, I've been really into assembling my own chains too. I always have a hard time finding the kind of chains I like. Taking the time to put it together with your own beads and findings is really gratifying.

A mechanical moth, this was partially inspired by the Golden Compass. This thing took forever! This is the only one that I'm not 100% satisfied with. I like it, but I think it needs something else, maybe some kind of finish? Someone suggested rub n' buff in my post about patina, I think that might look good. Also, perhaps a teeny tiny swarovski or two? If I add anything to this I'll repost it with the next batch. Any ideas are welcome :-D

I made this one for my Grandma's birthday. I knew she'd love this style, so I toned it down a little bit. I think it's a nice modest piece, but not nearly as fun as the others.
