Valentine's Day / Chinese New Year Crafts
Feb. 22nd, 2010 09:49 pmSock owl (felted singleton wool sock, acrylic felt, embroidery thread, fabric scraps for stuffing and a little rice in the bum for stability).
He ended up looking slightly more like a penguin with ears than an owl. Fortunately, I think the card may have helped clarify.
Hybrid Chinese New Year / Valentine's cards for my roommates. Hand-drawn tiger cards tucked into handmade red paper envelopes or hong bao. I wrote their names on the origami hearts after I took the picture.
A friend had an Alice in Wonderland birthday party, and we all dressed up. I brought her a corsage of white tissue paper roses "painted" red (with felt-tip pen). Unfortunately it turned out to be a bit difficult to wear (the scotch tape and paper made it scratchy/stiff, and the curling ribbon did not hold its knot well). Next time I would go for fabric or for crepe paper and wire in the entire construction in order to make it more flexible.
