Question: How to make similar notebook sleeve

I’m into Geek Chic, and think that this is the cutest laptop case ever.

However, it is only made for Macs. There are lots of easy tuts on hollowing out books, including this one.

My question is, what should I use to line the inside of the book? With fabric/felt, I have to worry about lint and/or static. Would fun foam work? That would melt too easily, I think. Any other suggestions?
