new clay face pendants
Mar. 16th, 2010 12:14 pmIt has been a while since I have posted some of my new face pendants so I thought I would show off a couple of my newest.
This pendant is make with a clay face that is molded and shaped then hand painted by me. Each face is painted in acrylic and metallic paints that make it sparkle in the light and come alive.
The finished face is then coated with several coats of high gloss sealer for a protective glass like finish, and beads chosen specifically for each individual face.
The Face measures approximately 3 Inches long including the drop and bail by 1 3/8 inches across

-----
My favorite is this one, I press antique watch parts into the clay and run the ends of the tiny gears over it to make really cool impressions. I also added a cool silver metal propeller that spins freely for those who like to fidget with their jewelry as well as an antique watch part and two tiny copper wire coils. Underneath the face hangs a tiny copper bell.
After the clay drys I then take a small brush and paint the face and tiny gear impressions in shades of copper, bronze, gold, silver and platinum and more. The face is then sealed in several coats of indoor/outdoor sealer to protect it.
Face size is approximately 1 1/8 inches across, with loop and bail pendant measures 2 1/2 inches tall

------
This second one was done with some new paints that I have that are called duochrome where if you look at the pendant at one angle the pendant with look like it has a green shimmer to it and if you turn the pendant and look at it at a different angle it will shine with an orange shimmer. I love these new paints and they make for some really interesting effects. This one has a hole cut into the cheek and a copper coiled wire and a silver wire are carefully inserted into the sides of the cut out in the clay.
