[identity profile] 42jellybeans.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl

Hey everyone!  I've recently take up sewing and I thought I would share some pics of stuff that I've made. So far all I've done is fandom plushies for various friends. I've discovered that I don't like using patterns that I've bought (or the sewing machine really) so everything I've made is entirely handsewn and most of the patterns were made by me. The only exception is the pattern I used for the doll bodies, I found that on deviantArt.

Sorry if you've seen this other places, I'm bored so I've been crossposting.

My first attempt was a Doctor Who plush. The tenth doctor to be exact! He was made for a friends grad gift since both of us are a little obsessed with Doctor Who. He's unfinished in these pics but they were the only ones I could find on my computer. : (    His teeny converse were adorable.  This was the first sewing project I completed (not counting the apron I made in home ec back in junior high).

The next project was Wall-E. And I am insanely proud of him. This was a christmas/birthday present for my best friend, and took me about 3 months to complete. I hadn't seen the movie so I used images I found with Google for references. I made the pattern by myself using paper which I cut and taped to form a bunch of geometric shapes. LIke grade school math! I hated to take the paper one apart, and it sat in the living room for a few days. (the pepsi can in the picture was for scale)

My final project was yet another doll from Doctor Who. I've sworn off making human plushies from now on, if only because the clothes drive me crazy. And attaching the feet is a pain. But anyway... Captain Jack Harkness is a going away present for a friend and also counts as a "you're awesome and made me a 4th Doctor scarf so I did this" present. I haven't given Jack away yet, and he isn't as finished as I would like, but she leaves tomorrow so he'll have to do. Plus I left him at work... oops! I had meant to make him a gun/holster and a vortex manipulater but didn't get to it in time. He does have a lovely TARDIS gift box though.

And thats it for now! I'm not sure if what I'll attempt next or when...
