New costume

Hm, I haven't posted a costume in awhile. At the most recent anime con (A-kon) I went to, I decided to go as Suiseiseki from Rozen Maiden. So I put this together.

The dress is too long and large, but I put much of it together last minute, and my sewing machine broke partway through, so I barely had enough time to do the trim and neckpiece by hand, let alone chop off significant length and such. I can do that for the next con I wear it at, though, and I really do like it. The vest needs a little tweaking too, where the fabric frayed just enough to let the lining show through at the bottom.

I cheated on the white shirt a bit - it's a turleneck, which I ripped the sleeves off of, and attached the green sleeves I made to it. I then took the white sleeves, turned the upside down (the wrist is at my elbows), and gathered the upper arm into the trim at my wrist. Because I didn't feel like making a simple white shirt.

And while this is entirely not related to the sewing of the costume, I wore this in 100+ weather... and am planning on doing so again. On the plus side, being hot aside, it's actually really comfortable to wear.
