[identity profile] malicious-pengy.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] craftgrrl
I posted this craft a few internet centuries ago, promised a tutorial to someone, and then never uploaded it.

So, here it is, finally. Hope my directions are clear enough!

Materials needed:
12 pieces of square paper, 3 different colors or color sets
Clear tape.

Additional materials shown:
Dr. Zoidberg
Emmett the flashy fish
(these are both optional; for moral support only)

This is a video explaining how to make the pieces you'll need. Thanks to my cameraman Joey, btw. It's not the clearest, but hopefully you'll get it. Not hard at all.

1) Make 12 of the pieces shown in the video. You'll want to sort them into colors for clarity; three colors in four shades each would be ideal, but as you can see, I'm reaching the end of my origami paper. I'm calling these three sets Earth Colors, Blues/Grays, and Pinks.

2) Taking the first four (my Earth Colors set), insert points into pockets, making this shape. There are two possible configurations for a square made of four pieces, so make sure you make this one. Also, while it's probably not completely necessary, you'll want to tape each piece together on the underside for the first 8 pieces.

3) Taking a fifth piece, insert it as shown.

4) And you've got your first peak! Use the next three pieces from that set.

5)

6) This is a top view. Four interlocked Earth Colors, with Blue/Grays tucked into them. Each Blue/Gray should have one point tucked in, and one point free, as you'll see in the bottom views.

7) Good news everyone...you're more than halfway there!

8)

9) Now comes your third color set. This was confusing for me the first couple times.

10) I give up on the extra narration.

11) When you get the last two pieces in, the bottom should be identical to the top. Four interlocking Pink pieces, with Blue/Grays tucked in.

12)
