I am a huge Harry Potter fan, so a while back when ABCFamily was airing its Harry Potter weekend I saw this part:

and decided to make my own howler. I love this idea so much that I swapped out the red envelope and ribbon to personalize it to make my own invitation/greeting card.
Here is a tutorial!
Items needed:
Wax and seal
1 sheet of cardstock 8.5x11 and 1 sheet 5.5x7.5 (or 2 8.5x11)
gluestick
separate envelope for template
pencil
roughly 2ft of ribbon
Matches or lighter (to light wax)
Pick any kind of greeting card envelope. I like this one because of the round edge on the back flap.

this one is a little bit bigger than 6x4.
Open up the envelope

On a piece of cardstock (color or design of your choice) lightly trace the envelope.

and cut.

fold the cut out envelope back into its original shape.

Pick a ribbon of your choice to match

with a glue stick, glue the ribbon to the inside center of the bottom flap and let dry.

You'll need to leave a tiny chunk of the glue on the envelope for the ribbon to stay in place.
DO NOT CUT RIBBON
Now glue the envelope back into place

Wrap ribbon around envelope and pull taunt.

Now cut ribbon

and glue in place

trim excess ribbon

cut two extra pieces of any length with a slant end

and glue in place on top of the previous glued down ribbon

For the label on the front I use:

follow instructions within the label kit to download the template to personalize the label with address and name.

Now for the inside paper, I use

if you do not have this size cardstock, you can print your message on a 8.5x11 cardstock. When you type your message in Word, set page layout to Landscape and divide page into 2 columns. Type message in 1 column. Print and trim to fit envelope.

Now for the wax seal. I bought my wax and seals in the Wedding section at Michaels.

Light wax and melt over the glued down ribbon and edge of the back flap.

Before the wax dries press seal firmly into wax and leave it in place for a minute or two before removing.

I used this to make baby shower invitations, Christmas cards, etc. just by switching out cardstock/ribbon colors.

this is my first post, so if they are any questions-if i wasn't clear on anything just leave a comment! :)
