Using Up Leftover Yarn
Jul. 26th, 2010 10:12 amI am in need of suggestions. I have decided that I need to deplete my yarn stash, much of which consists of one or two random skeins. I also have several balls of leftover yarn. You know, how it is. Too much there to throw it away, not enough to do anything with.
What I normally do to use it up is crochet pot holders, hats, doll/cat blankets, and scarves. I'm working on a fugly blanket for a friend of who loves fugly stuff, and that will use up a lot of my yarn. I'm also thinking of stocking up on black yarn and making stripey blankets of black and alternating colors. (Holiday gifts!)
Still, I'm tired of the same old, same old. So what do you guys do with your spare yarn that needs to be used up? Like I said, I mainly crochet, but I'm planning on picking up the knitting needles again and reteaching myself how to knit. Most I could do then was scarves though.
ETA: I know I could donate the unwanted yarn, but I'm really wanting to make stuff.
