Digital scrapbooking?

I love scrap booking and many other crafts. The problem is, recently I was told by my brother's wife's mom my nephew is asking stories about his past and no one has any baby pictures or things of him until he was 5 years old  +. I had custody of him during his baby time and did do some scrapbooks for him (his father tossed em in the trash).

But now hes asking questions and wants to know stuff. So I've been working on some stories and all and read in a recent parent magazine about digital scrapbooking (but i cant find it in the magazines now that i want the info!). I want to do it but I'm not sure where to start.

I think it will look a lot better since I can add short stories and things and have it neat to read (my writing is horrible and very few can read it).  But digital scrapbooks are suppose to be able to be printed out and bound neatly if you pay for it. So this would be perfect so I could get a few copies made one to send to his mom (who he now lives with) and one to send to my brother/his dad (who he sees one week out of the year if that). and one for me...

Has anyone done this before? is it easy to do? what would you recommend?
