So they are based on traditional Japanese Owls (sold in Kyoto I hear) but it's a free pattern you can access here: Tutowlrial.
I don't recommend using thick fabrics and sleazy (not sure about this word lol) fabric. (Blue and red ones are examples of this, they turned out lame.) They turn out better if you hand-sew them with lots of patience and precision. Well, they're cute either way. :) More pictures at my journal, if you're interested.
